Ateneo-Regis MBA students visit Japan
The Economic Development class of Prof. Mila Bulan went on an educational trip to Tokyo, Japan with the objective of gaining a deeper perspective on economic progress and getting to experience the lifestyle of people in one of the world’s highly-developed countries and thriving economies.
On May 28, 2015, the group composed of Melissa Bayani, Anne Baylon, Meliz Corpuz, Cris Desucatan, Maia Gregorio, Barry Lagura, Paolo Obligado, Frankie Patajo, David Quilnat, Arvin Rafol, Celmer Santos, and Chris Yu attended a seminar on managerial replacement and investment performance conducted by the Faculty of Economics of Tokyo University. The highlight of the trip was a tour on May 29, 2015 at the Tokyo Stock Exchange now known as Japan Exchange (JPX) followed by a forum on the history and performance of JPX held exclusively for the students.
The Japan experience would not be complete without taking seemingly countless 20-minute walks along the busy yet clean streets of Tokyo and hopping on the amazingly reliable subway systems of the city to discover well-disciplined, hardworking, and honest people, as well as well-maintained surroundings, and picturesque skyscrapers. Of course, how could they resist the temptation of savoring authentic omakase style sushi and other gastronomic Japanese favorites like ramen, mochi, and okonomiyaki all over the area? And as a treat for being good students, well, Mt. Fuji and shopping at Gotemba, Ginza, Shibuya, Harajuku, anyone? Dōmo arigatōgozaimashita! Mata aimashou!
