PSE brings capital market forum to Iloilo

THE PHILIPPINE Stock Exchange is set to conduct a roadshow in Iloilo this March 24 as part of efforts to bring stock investing to the grassroots.

The PSE will hold the second “Philippine Capital Markets Investment Conference” at the Uptown Place in Iloilo City. This was noted as a follow-up to the inaugural capital market forum held in Cebu in May 2014.

“We had a very successful conference in Cebu last year and we would like to replicate that. Given the immense interest on the stock market from potential investors in the Western Visayas, we decided to hold this year’s conference in Iloilo,” PSE president and chief executive officer Hans Sicat said in a press statement on Monday.

The PSE expects about 200 professionals and business owners to attend the Iloilo conference, which will feature presentations on economic outlook, the effects of the upcoming Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) economic integration, the role of the entrepreneur in the economy, as well as investment opportunities that are unique to Iloilo.

There will also be learning sessions on investing in stocks, portfolio management, investor safeguards, and new products and services in the capital markets in the afternoon breakout sessions, the PSE said.

This conference forms part of the PSE’s market education program to help increase awareness on stock market investments among Filipinos especially in areas outside Metro Manila. Less than 1 percent of the Philippine population currently invest in the stock market.

In 2014, the PSE conducted market education seminars in Batangas, Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Pampanga.

The PSE said registration forms for the event are available on the PSE (www.pse.com.ph) and PSE Academy (www.pseacademy.com.ph) websites. For inquiries, interested participants may send an email to marketeducation@pse.com.ph.
