DoubleDragon ready for grand opening of first CityMall

PROPERTY developer DoubleDragon Properties Corp.’s community mall brand “City Mall” will debut in Roxas City, Capiz on March 27, delivering the first in a chain of 100 community malls to be rolled out across the country.

The property firm – a partnership between Mang Inasal founder Edgar Sia II and Jollibee Foods Corp. founder and former chief executive officer (CEO) Tony Tan Caktiong – has also named actress Anne Curtis as its brand ambassador. Curtis is scheduled to grace the grand opening of the first CityMall on March 27 at 3 pm, the company told the Philippine Stock Exchange.

The new mall, which is located on a 1.2-hectare property along CM Arnaldo Boulevard in Roxas City, has about 7,035 square meters in gross floor area and 5,700 square meters in leasable space, Sia, DoubleDragon chair and CEO, said in an email on Monday.

Sia added that the first CityMall was now 100 percent leased out. Among the key locators are: Jollibee, Mang Inasal, Greenwich, Chowking, Red Ribbon Bakeshop, Highlands Coffee, Banco De Oro, Ministop Convenience Store, Robinsons Supermarket, Handyman Hardware Shop, Robinsons Appliances, Daiso Discount Store, RRJ Apparel, Penshoppe, Altitude Shop, Biscocho House Pasalubong shop, Rose Pharmacy, Ideal Optical, Expressions Bookstore, Fun Nation Amusement Center, Orange Tomato Watches, Kettle Corn, CDR-King, SanYang Furnitures, Time Network, Perfume Express, Cebuana Lhuillier and LBC.

Since DoubleDragon debuted on the local stock exchange 11 months ago, Sia said CityMall had secured 20 prime provincial sites for the rollout of CityMalls. These would translate to over 30 hectares of prime commercial space in the center of key provincial areas.

Each community mall is targeted to have a leasable area of 5,000 to 7,000 square meters.

On why Curtis was chosen as CityMall’s brand ambassador, Sia said in a press statement: “We believe that Anne is an incredibly influential celebrity with aspirational qualities. Her genuine and loveable personality has enabled the everyday Filipino to relate to her. This is exactly why we feel that she is the perfect face behind CityMall and its vision to uplift the standard of community malls across the country. For her part, Curtis said: “I am very happy to represent a company that is playing such an important role in enriching the lives of our fellow Filipinos, especially those that are in the provinces. CityMall creates more jobs and improves our overall lifestyle as well.”

DoubleDragon aims to complete 25 CityMalls this year and a total of 100 operating CityMalls across the country by 2020.
