Igniting harmonious energy into your home
The start of this New Year is a great time to ignite harmonious energy into a home or living space to assure an auspicious 2015. Although we are still in the Year of the Horse, preparations should already be made to invite the good chi energy to flow into the property to enhance abundance and peace.
With the presence of all the five elements, the chart of this year is well balanced in terms of yin and yang forces. The wealth sector is quite strong so it is ideal to buy property as an investment. The areas in the northeast sector are lucky for the next three years. If possible, the main entrance of the building should face north or northeast.
In finding a location that has excellent feng shui, check out the configuration of the land for the position of the four celestial guardians. The Black Turtle is represented by mountains or hills behind the home. Acting as support, these hills should be higher behind the structure to protect the residents. The Green Dragon is represented by rolling hills to the left of the home. These hills should be higher than hills to the right of the home. The White Tiger is represented by hills to the right of the home. Ideally, these hills are lower than hills on the left. The Crimson Phoenix’s hillock should be found in front of the home. This represents a footstool that forms an armchair configuration.
Placing ornaments to symbolize the four celestial guardians could improve the feng shui of the building if the configuration of the land is not ideal. This arrangement should be done closer to Chinese New Year or a few days before.
To activate the feng shui of your garden, choose plants and landscape elevations that will enhance the element of the garden’s direction. For instance, north direction has the element of water so a nice pond or fountain in this area could bring good luck to the home. Plants wavy in shape and blue flowers are ideal for the north side.

The element of fire is in the south direction so this area needs lots of light and the glow of lamps. Plants for this area could have sharp or pointed leaves.

Every year, the Tai Sui (the Grand Duke Jupiter) follows the same compass direction as the Year Animal Sign and moves his residence to this new animal sign. In 2015 Sheep Year, for instance, the Tai Sui moves from the Horse direction (South 2) to the direction and location of the Sheep (Southwest 1).
If possible, no renovations, digging or banging should be done in the southwest sector so as not to “offend” the Tai Sui. The best method of dealing with the Tai Sui is to appease him with his pet, a Pi Yao. This is a Chinese mythical hybrid creature considered to be a very powerful protector to practitioners of feng shui that can aid the luck of those going through a bad year according to Chinese zodiac.
At the 2015 Marites Allen Feng Shui Updates for the Year of the Wood Sheep last week, many auspicious recommendations were shared for harnessing the luck this year. International feng shui master Marites Allen (visit www.maritesallen.com) held her annual convention at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City.
As president and CEO of World of Feng Shui Philippines, Marites gives property assessment and analysis to help create a sound chi balance in the area and for the residents as well.
Happy New Year and good luck to all!
