Stocks up for fourth session

The local stock barometer gained for the fourth straight session on Tuesday on yearend buying ahead of the long Christmas break.

The Philippine Stock Exchange index racked up 47.05 points or 0.66 percent to close at 7,186.32, tracking the overnight rebound in US markets.

All counters firmed up led by the services and property counters which went up by over 1 percent.

Total value turnover amounted to P8.07 billion.

There were 95 advancers which beat 75 decliners while 50 stocks were unchanged.

The day’s gains were led by PLDT, ALI and AGI which all rose by over 2 percent, while SM Prime and DMCI were up by over 1 percent.

BDO and JGS also contributed to the day’s gains.

Outside of the PSEi stocks, the notable gainers were VMC (+4.22 percent), Travellers (+6.65 percent), Xurpas (+9.32 percent) and MAXS (+6.4 percent).

On the other hand, Megaworld and AC slipped by over 1 percent while EDC, URC, SMIC and ICTSI also dropped. Doris C. Dumlao
