City of Dreams Manila soft opening on Dec. 14

MANILA — All is set for the “soft opening” this Sunday of City of Dreams Manila, the second integrated resort and gambling complex to rise at Pagcor Entertainment City.

Casino operator Melco Crown (Philippines) Resorts Corp. announced on Wednesday that COD Manila had received from the state-run Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. the notice to commence casino operations.

The disclosure confirmed that the integrated resort would start operations on Dec. 14 but the grand opening will be before the Chinese New Year in February 2015.

COD Manila will be operated by MCE Leisure (Philippines) Corp., a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of Melco Crown (Philippines), the local unit of Macau casino giant Melco.

“All systems go!” said Willy Ocier, vice chair of the SM-led Belle Corp., which is Melco Crown’s partner in the development of this integrated resort.

The second integrated resort to open in Pagcor City after Bloomberry Resort Corp.’s Solaire Resort & Casino, City of Dreams Manila promises a “new era of entertainment” backed by a “world of exhilarating gaming spaces, world-class dining experiences, plush accommodations, and awesome play.”

COD Manila is located on a 6.2-hectare site at the gateway to Entertainment City.

It will offer about 380 gaming tables, 1,700 slot machines and 1,700 electronic table games upon opening.

It was earlier announced that two of the hottest global nightclub brands frequented by A-listers – Pangaea and Chaos – both developed by the group led by “International King of Clubs” Michael Van Cleef Ault, will be situated in its Fortune Egg.

Fortune Egg is a dome-like structure that will be accented with creative exterior lighting design and is anticipated to become a landmark of the Manila Bay area.
