Multimillion-dollar plant in the works, says Amcor

MANILA, Philippines–Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific, the largest flexible packaging manufacturer in the region, is set to build a multimillion-dollar flexible packaging plant in the Philippines as it targets to further expand its footprint in Asia.

“Emerging Asia remains an important focus for Amcor Flexibles and, with 38 plants in eight countries today, our presence in the Asia Pacific region will continue to grow both organically and through acquisitions. Our growth is supported by a solid foundation of delivering high quality, safe and innovative packaging,” Ralf K. Wunderlich, president of Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific, said in a statement issued Tuesday.

Amcor, however, did not provide further details regarding the investment and production capacity of the new plant.

The planned facility, which is expected to be fully operational by 2016, will manufacture high performance packaging for a leading multinational consumer brand.

The investment is expected to further beef up Amcor’s presence in the Philippines and bring benefits to the local community Amcor operates in.
