Whether starting a new home, looking to redecorate or simply adding a classic piece as an accent to your existing mélange of furniture, shopping for the home has become more exciting with many new furniture and home accessories stores.
The brand Philux, to many of its patrons, is synonymous with the concept of family. That is because in the past 34 years, Philux, which was founded by Max and Zelda Kienle in 1980, has become a household name for many Filipinos and their families. In addition to skillfully executed and timeless designs, all superior-quality products are backed with a team that goes beyond delivering furniture.
From design to delivery, Philux is involved in the whole process. The company does not only guarantee, it has proven to garner full satisfaction from its clientele.
Expansion
In the last three decades, not only has Philux fused time-tested technique with modern-day technology to evolve with modern-day furniture trends, it has also expanded its offerings and product line to include more contemporary pieces that cater to today’s concept of the metro and urban lifestyle.
At the forefront of Philux today is its next generation. Born with the passion to bring life to any space, and with a keen eye for aesthetic and design, sisters Stephanie Kienle-Gonzalez and Jessica Kienle have decided to help further strengthen their parents’ legacy by breathing new life into the family business as VP for sales and marketing and head of design, respectively.
The California Collection is the newest edition that the sisters designed from the inspiration of California’s countryside. The comfy collection evokes a relaxed and laid-back style, but still with the Philux touch of elegance that it has always been known for. With the aim of reflecting the Napa Valley lifestyle, Jessica and her design team took repurposed wood and steel (typically used in wine crates and barrels from its renowned vineyards) as the main textile inspiration for the Sutter set.
In addition to metal accents to keep in line with the industrial motif, they chose to incorporate tufted and fully upholstered plush pieces, as well as introduce new finishes like coffee and charcoal to evoke a more organic feel—very much like the vibe of California’s countryside.
In its genuine desire to give back, Philux collaborated with MovEd, a nonprofit organization that brings quality holistic early childhood care and development programs to underserved communities. The company is now contributing to the greater good of society and as it continues to grow and make itself known to future generations, it, too, has chosen to help children and their families, one piece of furniture at a time.
A synergy of young, passionate women have banded together to #DesignForACause for the benefit of MovEd. Led by Alexandra Madrigal Eduque, Jesse Ho Maxwell and Cristalle Belo Henares, they have gathered friends—renowned Cebu designer Mia Arcenas and Philux sisters Jessica and Stephanie—to celebrate the Year of the Horse with iconic designs in fashion and furniture.
The weekend trunk show at the Philux showroom in Powerplant Mall raised enough funds to send more than 30 children to school—a tremendous achievement, given that their original target was to be able to fund the education of 20 students through MovEd. The proceeds for this project will specifically be channeled toward the organization’s programs and operations’ in the third district of Camarines Sur, under the leadership of and in partnership with Congresswoman Leni Robredo.
In retrospect and aside from the funds raised by the company, what stood out the most are the heart and the passion that this family has so generously shared for a worthwhile cause. If only for the tight-knit bond, fondness and love that the Kienle family shares with each other and their Philux family, those values alone are worthy of emulation—by every MovEd and Filipino family.
In closing, please check out the Manila Fame Exhibit at the SMX Convention Center at MOA. The country’s most stylish and innovative furniture and furnishings companies are showcased at this biannual exhibit happening this weekend.
