Xoom Corporation’s (NASDAQ: XOOM), “Usapang Padala with Xoom.com” multimedia campaign features customers who share their personal stories to illustrate how much they trust Xoom for their money transfers back home.
“It’s gratifying to see and hear how Xoom has changed our customers’ lives and to showcase endorsements from real customers –not actors –in our latest commercials,” said Pia Palpal-latoc Guter, director of marketing for the Philippines at Xoom.
“As a Filipino who sends money back home to my family, I see myself in their shoes,” Guter states. “Our customers depend on us and we need to be reliable, transparent and ready to address any concerns they may have. Plus, staying in touch with our community helps us to continually improve our services.”
One customer featured in the television commercials is Rose Alvarez, an ICU nurse who lives in Chicago, Illinois. Due to the odd hours of her shift, she had been withdrawing cash the day before sending the money, and having to physically carry the cash to the Filipino store to send to her parents. One evening, after withdrawing cash from her bank, she went out with friends and a pickpocket stole the cash from her purse. That was the end of the offline cash-and-carry method for Alvarez.
In 2006, Alvarez was introduced to Xoom through television ads and recommendations from other Fil-Am friends who had been using the service. After trying Xoom, she quickly discovered how safe, fast and reliable it was to send money back home to her parents. She has been a loyal Xoom customer ever since.
“If I used Xoom, I would not have lost cash. I could’ve sent the money to my parents instead,” said Alvarez.
Alvarez has particularly enjoyed the ease and convenience that Xoom offers.
“My hospital shifts change, so now I don’t have to worry about a remittance center’s hours of operation,” said Alvarez. “With Xoom, I can send from anywhere, anytime. During winter when it’s cold, I also don’t need to go outside anymore.”
She concludes by saying that Xoom is the easiest and most convenient online money transfer service for her, and has provided the ideal solution to her previous challenges in sending funds back home to her parents.
