Fashion and interior design move in the same color patterns and design trends. From classic furnishings to contemporary home fashion, both art fields integrate creativity and self-expression.
Ethan Allen, an authority in fine home furnishings and accessories, has recently incorporated these two powerful design fields into beautiful showroom displays at its shop at The Residences at Greenbelt, Makati City.
Exclusively distributed by Focus Global Inc., Ethan Allen (visit www.ethanallen.com.ph) has more than 80 years of furniture expertise and has always been known for its classic designs with modern perspective. Coming into the next phase of interior design, Ethan Allen ushered “The New Eclecticism”—a style approach that caters to the design-conscious’ passion and creativity.
3 powerhouse designers
This design concept emphasizes self-expression and individualism. Ethan Allen translates this into reality through an in-store collaboration with three powerhouse designers.
According to Ethan Allen Philippines’ senior brand manager Melissa Valdez, The New Eclecticism makes the product lines more accessible and versatile, encouraging design senses to create original and personal styles.
The displays feature exciting and very unique combinations of materials, prints, patterns and finishes that may not necessarily match but marvelously work together into well-composed living spaces. The brand presents the bold and unexpected with a spectrum of colors, palpable textures and accents coming beautifully together to create the perfect combination of the modern home.
“The New Eclecticism, being about combinations, can only be achieved if there is access to as many design options as possible. And this is where the brand stands out. Ethan Allen offers the widest array of design options through its customer order program,” Valdez shared.
The showroom offers thousands of fabrics, leathers, finishes, trimmings and details to personalize the custom-made furniture. To help assist customers through all the options, Ethan Allen has in-house design experts that can make create color options for a better design perspective.
Invited to design a space
The New Eclecticism promotes highly dynamic furnishing options for limitless, customized design preferences. To capture the essence, three talented Filipino creative minds—esteemed interior designer Chat Fores and fashion gurus Amina Aranaz-Alunan and Albert Andrada—were invited to design a space with their interpretation of “The New Eclecticism.”
All creative, expressive and elegant, the three were chosen because each one is the right combination of classic and contemporary, elegant and edgy, creative and classy, much like Ethan Allen.
To bring the design philosophy to life, renowned fashion designer Albert Andrada said that he drew inspiration from blue and white china, and incorporated new ideas would just continuously pop up. His art and expertise gave him an advantage in creating his design. “I enjoyed the whole process; it is just the same when designing clothes for a new collection for the season. I am so excited to see everything done and displayed in their showrooms,” he enthused.
Speaking about her creative process, top bag designer Amina Aranaz-Alunan said she weaved both her trademark fashion discipline and instinctive personal flair into the interior space. “I always find myself creating pieces that are intricate, natural, handmade, but polished. I love statement pieces and I am in love with unexpected mixes and a lot of texture,” she said.
To create a modern but still very classy livable space for today’s metro dweller, highly respected interior designer Chat Fores had incorporated a chic look that wonderfully works. “I was excited and challenged to work on this concept. I wanted to give the brand a new look in my own style and try to see if my eclectic mix match of items would work,” she noted, adding that her design aims to attract “new customers my age or younger.”
