Maynilad signs deal to supply homeowners of BF Resort village

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. said it has signed an agreement with homeowners that would allow it to construct and rehabilitate the existing water system inside the BF Resort Village in Las Piñas City.

The memorandum of agreement—which was seen to finally pave the way for the village residents to have a more affordable and stable supply of water 24/7—was signed among Maynilad, BF Resort Village Homeowners Association Inc. (BFRVHAI), BF Homes Inc. (BFHI) and its water distribution arm, Philippine Waterworks and Construction Corp. (PWCC).

“Finally, we can bring clean, affordable surface water to BF Resort residents. We thank the local government of Las Piñas and the BF Resort homeowners association for making this project possible,” said Maynilad president and CEO Ricky Vargas.

The proposed projects under the agreement, once these have been completed, would allow Maynilad to provide the 10,000 households within the BF Resort Village potable water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 16 pounds a square inch (psi) pressure. It is also expected to cease the operations of illegal deep wells in the area, which would support the policy of the National Water Resources Board (NWRB), Maynilad explained.

For years, residents of BF Resort Village sourced their water from several deep wells operated by PWCC, or from expensive water deliveries, which charge an average P30 a drum or which could cost as much as P1,800 a month.

Prolonged use of deep wells could drain underground aquifers and pose threats to the environment and to health, according to Maynilad.

Maynilad is the biggest private water concessionaire in the Philippines in terms of customer base. It is a concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks Sewerage System for the west zone of the Greater Manila Area, encompassing portions of Manila, Quezon City, Makati, Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; Cavite City and the towns of Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite province.
