Korean Air introduces Tenth Airbus A380

SEOUL, South Korea  – Korean Air, South Korea’s flagship airline, added the tenth A380 aircraft to its fleet on July 29. The latest A380 went through the required tests in Korea when it made its debut flight to Atlanta on Aug. 3.

Korean Air operates fourteen A380 flights a week between both Incheon-Los Angeles and Incheon-New York and also seven flights a week between Incheon-Paris. The carrier also operates the A380 on the Incheon-Atlanta route, strengthening competitiveness on long haul business routes.

Configured in a three-class layout with just 407 seats in total, Korean Air provides the ultimate comfort to passengers onboard its ‘hotel in the sky’.

Korean Air’s A380 has 301 seats in economy class, the lowest configuration of any A380 operator so far, providing the most spacious pitch of 34 inches. The ergonomically designed ‘New Economy’ seats provide the utmost comfort to passengers on long haul flights.

Korean Air took the bold step of being the first global carrier to devote an entire upper deck of the large aircraft to a single class. 94 fully flat ‘Prestige Sleeper’ seats are located on the upper deck of the A380 in Prestige Class (business class) providing an experience that can be likened to a business class only aircraft.

And for the ultimate experience twelve ultra-luxurious First Class Kosmo Suites are located at the front of the lower deck and provide passengers with independent space, whilst also ensuring total privacy.

Korean Air’s ‘Duty Free Showcase’ is located at the back of the lower deck and features a variety of duty-free products with a dedicated cabin crew member on hand to assist and advise passengers with all their shopping needs.

The very relaxing ‘Celestial Bar’ is a dedicated area of the A380 aircraft where passengers can sample Korean Air’s exclusive cocktails during their flight. Six exceptional cocktails feature at the bar, chosen following a special cocktail tasting event carried out by the airline for VIP customers.

Other bars are located on each floor at the front of the aircraft, by the Prestige and First Class cabins and passengers can help themselves to a range of beverages and have some time away from their seat.

Korean Air’s first A380 was delivered in June 2011 and the delivery of the tenth finalizes the order. The A380 aircraft will be deployed on long-haul routes to the US and Europe providing the ultimate in passenger comfort.
