Phoenix’s P345-M port in Batangas now open

Phoenix Petroterminals and Industrial Park Corp. (PPIPC), a unit of publicly listed Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc., has opened a new P345-million port facility in Batangas, which will enable locators in the company’s industrial estate to accept more shipments for their businesses.

The new port will be serving companies operating within the 94-hectare Phoenix Petroterminals and Industrial Park, which straddles Salong, Puting Bato West, and Lumbang Calzada in Calaca, Batangas. It will add to the park’s existing port facility, which are situated in the deep water part of Balayan Bay, In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange yesterday, Phoenix Petroleum reported.

According to the independent oil player, the inauguration of the new port facility, which has a pier deck equipped with fenders, bollards and lighting facilities, will complement the South Luzon Thermal Energy Corp.’s (SLTEC) coal-fired power plant that will commence operations by the end of the year.

The SLTEC facility is equipped with hoppers, conveyor system, and sprinklers that can discharge its coal shipments at the pier deck direct to its coal yards for faster discharging and environment-friendly operations.

Phoenix Petroleum noted that its industrial park remains an ideal location for companies, especially those that rely on water transport, as well as those looking for potential sites where they can put up their manufacturing plants, warehouses, storage tanks and other facilities.

At present, Phoenix Petroterminals and Industrial Park is home to the steel manufacturing plant of Steel Asia Manufacturing Inc.; bulk solid warehouse of Arvin International Marketing Inc.; the chemical storage facilities of Asian Chemicals Corp. and Philippine Prosperity Chemicals Inc.; and the power plant of SLTEC. It also contains the  biggest petroleum depot of Phoenix Petroleum.

More prospective locators are now choosing PPIP as their strategic location to put up their businesses.
