MANILA, Philippines–Two of the hottest global nightclub brands frequented by A-listers – Pangaea and Chaos – both developed by the group led by “International King of Clubs” Michael Van Cleef Ault, are breaking into the Philippine market and adding to the attractions of the upcoming City of Dreams Manila.
Integrated casino resort developer Melco Crown (Philippines) Resorts Corp. announced on Tuesday a collaboration deal with Ault-led nightclub consulting firm The Ault Group to bring these two nightclubs to the entertainment complex, which is scheduled to open later this year.
Both clubs will be situated in City of Dreams Manila’s iconic Fortune Egg, an architecturally-unique dome-like structure, which will be accented with creative exterior lighting design and anticipated to become a landmark of the Manila Bay area.
Renowned for pioneering the “Ultra-Lounge” concept in the 90’s, Pangaea is known for its sophisticated club set, designer furniture and custom-made dance tiers. It has hosted the likes of Madonna, David Beckham, Steven Tyler, Cee-Lo Green, Jessica Alba, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Moss, Will Smith, Jack Nicholson, powerful political figures and global billionaires.
Pangaea has been the venue for legendary parties in New York City, London, Miami, Marbella, Spain, Austin and Delhi, India. Pangaea Singapore in Marina Bay Sands, Ault’s latest and most ambitious nightclub venture, is also the highest earning club in the world, per square foot.
Chaos is credited for being the world’s first ‘bottle service’ night club and was declared by New York Times Magazine as “The Hottest Club in New York” when it opened in 1996, becoming a regular haunt for Hollywood and international celebrities alike. It earned similar bragging rights when it opened a year later in Miami’s South Beach and São Paulo, Brazil.
“Introducing world-class clubs and a sophisticated international nightlife experience to City of Dreams Manila reinforces our overall entertainment destination strategy, as envisioned by Mr. Lawrence Ho, Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Melco Crown Entertainment Limited, and further enhances the regional and international leisure destination appeal of Manila,” Clarence Chung, chair and president of Melco Crown Philippines, said in a press statement.
Chung added that these two nightclubs were “two of the world’s most recognized and successful nightclubs, and are destined to set the standards for exciting nightlife in Manila, with a clear focus on meeting the needs of the region’s large and ever growing market of leisure and entertainment destination seekers.”
“The Philippines is a highly important market with extraordinary growth potential. It has a huge young and educated demography, many of whom have travelled the world and seek the very best in nightlife entertainment. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work alongside Melco Crown Philippines to deliver the ultimate in international nightlife offerings as part of what will be the extraordinary destination resort that is City of Dreams Manila,” Ault said.
“It was clear from day one that Melco Crown Philippines wants only the best for visitors to their property, and we can certainly deliver this. We don’t want to just re-create a nightclub for Manila, but to design an entertainment venue that is truly unique to this multi-faceted property and the Philippines,” he added.
Pangaea’s Ultra Lounge in Manila is envisioned to fuse the exotic and the glamorous, where the audience will be seated at tables encircling a rotating grand piano DJ booth. The exuberant atmosphere will offer an intimate space in the ‘Study Lounge’ and the ultimate VIP experience in the ‘Peacock Room.’ Hosting up to 400 guests a night in over 730 square meters, Melco said Pangaea’s reputation around the world was “unparalleled.”
In Manila’s Chaos Nightclub, acrobats will dance and performers will entertain alongside world-class DJs in the “high-energy” Dance Club or enjoy a private experience in the KTV Rooms. The nightclub is spread across two levels, over some 3,000 square meters and will open its doors to more than 2,000 clubbers.
City of Dreams Manila, located on an approximately 6.2-hectare site at the gateway to Entertainment City, will include the ultimate in entertainment, hotel, retail and dining and lifestyle experiences with aggregated gaming space, including VIP (very important person) and mass-market gaming facilities with up to approximately 380 gaming tables, 1,700 slot machines and 1,700 electronic table games upon opening.
