The country’s real estate market has been stable for the past few years, and will continue to be stable for the years to come. This was declared by the organizers of the Philippine Housing Expo Week 2014 after seeing a good response from hundreds of homebuyers who visited the recently concluded Housing Fair held in Glorietta Activity Center in Makati.
“Indeed, a lot of them realized that this is a good time to invest in property. The Housing Fair has been ambitious in providing visitors a hassle-free search for their dream homes and have worked closely with the government agencies in the same venue in initiating all the required steps to safeguard the interest of homebuyers,” said Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) national president Ricky Celis.
The Housing Fair comes at a time when the country needs to produce an average of 345,941 housing units a year. This figure is needed in order to entirely eliminate the backlog of 3.9 million houses by 2030.
Shared optimism
“The success of the event is certainly an excellent news for our members as we all head to our next major event, the 23rd National Convention (with the theme, ‘Gaining Ground’) that will be held Sept. 25 and 26 at the Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu,” said Celis.
He was also glad that the government officials who attended the opening ceremony, namely, Makati Councilor Maria Theresa de Lara, Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council Secretary general Celia Alba, Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board Commissioner Antonio Bernardo, Social Housing Finance Corp. EVP Eduardo Manicio, Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-Ibig) VP Juanito Eje and Home Guaranty Corp. director Mel Adriano, all shared their sense of optimism and in fact, offered their assistance to help homebuyers get their dream homes.
