MANILA, Philippines—The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has restored only 24-percent electricity of its franchise area which covers over five million consumers.

More than 4.6 million of its consumers have been affected by typhoon Glenda. Its franchise area covers Metro Manila, parts of Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, Rizal and Quezon.

Meralco, in its twitter account assured that “our crew are working double shifts per day to ensure round the clock restoration efforts.”

“However, combined factors of transmission outage extent of damage, clearing ops, among others, limit power restoration to more areas. All of these are crucial to ensure delivery of safe electric service. Hoping for our customers’ understanding on the matter,” Meralco said.
