Peakpower’s plant nears completion

Peakpower Energy Inc. announced the placement of the 20 megawatt (MW) bunker-fired engines of global manufacturer Wartsila Finland Oy in the 20.7-MW diesel power plant located in Barangay Apopong, General Santos City. The power plant is a project of Peakpower Soccsargen Inc. (PSI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Peakpower.

The power plant, which is made up of three units with 6.9 MW capacity each, broke ground in August 2013 at the South Cotabato II Electric Cooperative (Socoteco II) compound in Barangay Apopong.

Power, Manufacturing and Marine Works Inc. (PMM Works) is the power generation, engineering, installment and construction contractor and Ferrowelds Construction is the switchyard contractor.

“In the next few weeks, we will be synchronizing the generation with the Socoteco II system to make sure that our generated power will flow into their distribution system. We are very confident that we will be able to deliver on our commitment to Socoteco II of doing the commercial operations by September or October and be able to augment their power supply within the period contained in the contract,” Castro said.

Peakpower is a joint venture of A. Brown Company Inc., Enterprise Holdings Corp., WorldPower Aliance Ltd. and Power Mavens Holdings Ltd.
