Risk aversion drives US bond yields to record low

NEW YORK—The yield on the 10-year US Treasury note hit a historic low of 1.929 percent on Tuesday amid a steep sell-off in US stock markets driven by concerns about the US and eurozone economies.

The yield on the 10-year Treasury, which moves in the opposite direction from its price, was trading at 1.939 percent at around 1430 GMT, after earlier plunging as low as 1.929 percent.
