WASHINGTON, D.C.— The Philippines will try to attract more investments from the United States during the 3rd Private Sector-Led Investment Roadshow that will visit three major American cities in the next several days.

The Philippine Embassy said a delegation from the Philippine private sector will take part in the investment roadshow that will be traveling to Houston, Atlanta and Philadelphia to convince US businessmen to consider investing in the Philippines.

“We want more of our American friends to know why we are considered the new emerging tiger economy of Asia and why it makes sense for them to put their investment in the Philippines,” said Ambassador Jose L. Cuisia, Jr., who initiated the roadshow three years ago as part of Embassy’s economic diplomacy efforts.

The private sector delegation from Manila is made up of Dr. Bernardo Villegas, Professor and Director for Research of the University of the Asia and the Pacific; Alfredo Austria, President of DMCI Homes, Inc.; Bong Borja, Country Head and President of Expert Global Solutions; Jojo Dispo, President and Director, First Metro Investment Corporation; Martin Pascual, Board Director, Pascual Laboratories; and Benjamin Philip Romualdez, President of the Chamber of Mines of the Philippines.

“They will provide their testaments on the remarkable feat that the Philippine economy has achieved over the last decade,” Cuisia said, adding that American business leaders and investors who will be attending the roadshow will be apprised on various business opportunities in major industries and sectors such as information technology and business process operations, tourism, infrastructure and energy, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, real estate, financial services and regional economic development.

The investment mission is currently in Houston where it will hold a forum on investment opportunities at the BBVA Headquarters at the Houston Galleria at 10 a.m. on Friday.

The roadshow will move to Atlanta on Sunday.  An investment forum is scheduled at the UPS World Headquarters there at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be followed by another investment forum at the University of Pennsylvania at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The members of the delegation will also have one-on-one meetings with prospective partners during the roadshow. They are also expected to meet with local officials and members of the Filipino Community in the three cities and attend a fundraising event for Haiyan survivors in Philadelphia.
