This week’s column centers on technology, ever evolving and constantly aiming to improve our lives. Technology in the home is best exemplified by Samsung, which seems to be inventing everything from smart phones to smart refrigerators to smart airconditioners.
Samsung has taken on the higher pursuit of offering people a better lifestyle. Armed with state-of-the-art electronics and a passion for innovation, the global tech giant recently launched its new lineup of digital household appliances that will ensure a happy home.
Appropriately enough, the launch was held at the Samsung Hall at SM Aura. Different Samsung units showcased their new products, each equipped with Digital Inverter Technology (DIT) that helps both the consumer and the environment.
In the new Smart Air Conditioner, for example, DIT maintains the desired temperature without frequently shutting off and on, thus consuming up to 60 percent less electricity than conventional airconditioners. There is also a Fast Cool mode, which brings the room to the desired temperature faster, and Single User mode, which allows the user to control capacity. All told, the results are less power consumption while still providing cooling and comforting functions. The unit also has a Virus Doctor, which puts air-purifying technology into the airconditioner. Thus, harmful contaminants are neutralized, keeping users safer.
Of course, everything is wirelessly connected to the Samsung smartphone, which allows users to control the unit remotely. The AC also has Smart Installation and Smart Check, which ensure the unit is properly set up by the installer, and then automatically detects errors and diagnoses problems, all again via smartphone.
Part of Samsung’s new lineup also includes the new Food Showcase Refrigerator. There are two layers of doors in order to properly showcase the contents of the refrigerator, making it much easier to visualize stocks. There are the outer compartments for your most frequently used products, allowing instant access. And then there are the inner compartments for ingredients that you don’t use as often. This refrigerator is also equipped with Samsung’s trademark Digital Inverter Technology.
Like the airconditioner, the refrigerator utilizes the same smart technology that allows it to adjust its temperature accordingly. Thus, no unnecessary energy is consumed, making this an efficient and cost-effective appliance.
In addition to the AC and the fridge is the Front Load Washing Machine. Samsung’s answer to the hateful task of doing laundry is to create a machine with Eco Bubble Technology, which allows powerful cleaning in cold water. Using warm water takes energy and can be damaging to some fabrics. Eco Bubble allows for easy cleaning by completely dissolving detergent in cold water, producing a fine foam that easily penetrates fabrics for effective and gentle washing. Once again, Samsung’s DIT is at the heart of the machine, enabling better performance with less noise and vibration, and ultimately better cost efficiency.
As I walked around the Samsung Hall, I began to wonder if there was any home appliance that had not yet been touched by Samsung. There was a Samsung Smart Oven, with features that included auto-cook for making yogurt and even dough proofing. The Slim Fry function was intriguing, as the tech promised to fry without any fattening oils.
