Ford vehicle sales soared by 48% in February

Ford Group Philippines posted a 48-percent jump in its vehicle sales in February to 1,277 units, driven largely by the solid performance specifically of its pickup trucks.

The February sales figure brought the company’s two-month sales to 2,353 units.

“Our full showroom of global Ford vehicles in the Philippines continues to appeal to a wide range of lives and lifestyles—customers who want and appreciate the segment-leading combinations of safety, quality, fuel efficiency, smart technologies and value for money that our vehicles deliver,” Ford Philippines managing director Kay Hart said in a statement issued Monday.

According to Ford, its all-new Ranger led the growth with retail sales jumping 158 percent to 647 units from a year ago, representing its record monthly performance and making it the top selling pickup truck in the Philippines for the said month.

Sales of the sporty Ford Fiesta also rose by 16 percent year-on-year to 184 units, as “young and trendy Filipinos continue to connect with the significantly refreshed nameplate,” the company said.

Ford’s sports utility vehicles (SUVs) also contributed to the record February performance. The Ford Everest family SUV posted a 22-percent increase in retail sales to 233 units, while sales of the all-new Ford Explorer surged 89 percent to 121 units during the same period.

In the meantime, Ford said it was continuing its Ford EcoSport Roadshow, which included test drives of the all-new EcoSport compact SUV. This helped drive customer demand up.

“Initial customer response to the all-new EcoSport has been terrific. Its maneuverability, compact size but spacious interior and abundant storage capacity, as well as smart safety features and technologies, make it the perfect urban SUV,” Hart said.

EcoSport is retailed at P775,000 to P975,000 per unit. It is available in seven colors—Mars Red, Candy Red, Lunar Sky, Ingot Silver, Frozen White, Panther Black and Winning Blue. Amy R. Remo
