Regional airline Tiger Airways plans to start flights between Davao and Singapore by November this year.
In a statement, Tiger Airways, partly owned by Singapore Airlines, said it would fly three times a week—Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays—to the Mindanao city, making it the airlines’ fourth destination in the Philippines.
“We are excited to add Davao to our growing portfolio of exciting destinations. Davao is an ideal destination for travelers who are keen on experiencing both the cultural diversity and natural beauty that the Philippines has to offer,” Tiger Airways managing director Stewart Adams said.
With the addition of Davao to Tiger’s portfolio of routes, passengers can now purchase flights to four destinations in the Philippines at www.tigerairways.com—Manila (Ninoy Aquino International Airport), Clark, Cebu and Davao.
Davao, the largest city in the Philippines in terms of area, has in recent years emerged as a major business, investment and tourism hub.
Tiger Airways is one of the largest budget carriers in the Asia-Pacific region.
Tiger Airways said it would sell one-way tickets from Singapore to Davao for 60 Singapore dollars.
