Toyota posts all-time high sales in 2013
MANILA, Philippines—Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. recorded a new milestone for 2013 as sales reached 75,587 units, marking the company’s highest annual sales performance since it started operations in 1988.
In a statement issued Thursday, the company said its vehicle sales in 2013 surpassed its target of 75,000 units and represented a 15.6-percent increase compared to the sales of 65,396 units in 2012.
“[Toyota] continues to move forward as exemplified by our sales milestones. I am pleased to report that we finished the year 16 percent over the year 2012, likewise surpassing our forecast of 75,000 units,” said TMP president Michinobu Sugata.
“This new sales milestone wouldn’t have been possible if not for the trust and loyalty our customers have toward our brand. These achievements are our main drivers to consistently find ways to serve our customers better with excellent products and services,” Sugata added.
With such strong performance, the Japanese automotive giant is poised to achieve its 12th consecutive Triple Crown.
Article continues after this advertisementFor 2013, TMP said it sold a total of 49,740 units under the commercial vehicle segment and 25,847 units for the passenger car segment.
Article continues after this advertisementTMP’s strong performance was spearheaded by the all-new Toyota Vios, which continued to be well received by the market. The “best-selling vehicle” has tallied its fourth consecutive month of record-breaking sales in December with 2,345 units. For the full year 2013, sales of the Vios grew by 24 percent to 20,493 units compared to a year ago.
Innova, Toyota’s second best-selling vehicle, also registered its highest sales for the year with a total of 1,466 units sold in December. For 2013, sales of Innova alone reached 14,376 units.
“This proves to show that this model continues to win the hearts and minds of the consumers because of its great value and reliability,” TMP said.
