Robinsons Retail reaches 1,000-store milestone

MANILA, Philippines–Newly listed Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. has reached the 1,000-store milestone in line with its target to end this year with 1,100 stores in its multi-format portfolio.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Robinsons Retail said its 1,000th store is a Robinsons Department store in Robinsons Place Butuan. This department store is a two-level store with gross selling area of around 7,100 square meters.

The latest store will feature a Toys R’ Us toy box section at the second floor together with a business center at the first floor.

Robinsons Land’s mall in Butuan will house other Robinsons Retail formats, including Robinsons Supermarket, Handyman Do it Best, Daiso Japan, South Star Drug and Robinsons Appliances.

Robinsons Supermarket, now the biggest format in its portfolio, now has 86 stores nationwide.

By the end of next year, Robinsons Retail expects to have expanded its store network to 1,400. As of end-2012, it operated only 912 stores.

Robinsons Retail is the country’s second largest multi-format retail company with nine retail formats under six business segments.  Other formats include True Value, Ministop, Howards Storage World and a host of international fashion apparel brands such as Topshop, Topman, Dorothy perkins, Warehouse and G200.
