Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI), the flagship holding company of tycoon Andrew Tan, was among the best listed companies named this year by Forbes Asia Magazine.
Tan’s conglomerate is a newcomer in Forbes Asia’s Fabulous 50, an annual list that recognizes the best-performing listed companies in the Asia-Pacific region, the statement showed.
Forbes Asia highlighted the conglomerate’s impressive revenue growth last year of 94 percent, propelled by its company Megaworld Corp., the country’s No. 1 condominium developer that pioneered the “live-work-play-learn” township concept in the Philippines.
Likewise cited were Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., which operates Resorts World Manila; Emperador Distillers Inc., the world’s biggest brandy company; Golden Arches Development Corp., which operates the local franchise of McDonald’s; and Global-Estate Resorts Inc., the country’s leading developer of integrated tourism estates with more than 3,100 hectares of land bank.
“This award affirms our commitment to excellence and best practices. This is a result of the consolidated efforts of all employees of the companies under AGI who have been working hard throughout the years to help us become what we are today,” Kevin Tan, AGI executive director and Megaworld’s first vice president and head of commercial group, said in the statement.
“We are very honored to be recognized by the world’s most admired and credible business magazine. This is indeed a testament of a world-class Filipino achievement,” he said.—Miguel R. Camus
