US-based Ambitech sets up shop in PH
US-based Ambitech International has made the Philippines its design hub center in Southeast Asia, making Manila its gateway toward servicing the engineering requirements of companies in the region.
The local unit, Ambitech Asia, was officially launched last week, marking a significant milestone for the Philippines, in terms of boosting the country’s competitiveness, productivity, and job creation efforts.
“We emphasize the fact that we are not going to consider Ambitech Asia merely a branch office, but rather a new office, a new entity that is full-fledged and self sustaining. We believe we can tap the resources and economic development here,” noted Ambitech vice president for business development Troy A. Kemp.
“We’ve chosen the right place to put up a new business entity that can provide high class, high quality customer service to the Southeast Asian market,” Kemp added.
As a solutions provider, Ambitech is a full-service engineering firm that provides a comprehensive, large-scale and multidisciplinary design services in the region, particularly for the petroleum, chemical and food/beverage manufacturing industries.
Ambitech’s presence has opened up employment opportunity for the Philippines, specifically for engineers. The design of numerous projects all over the world can be done in the country, in support of the government’s push to have more value-added services, engineering outsourced services as growth areas, beyond the already established BPO sector in the country.

Following the establishment of the regional design center in the Philippines, the plan now is to establish sales offices in other Southeast Asian countries, to serve as the contacts for their clients abroad, Sandoval added.
“We’re going to start here in the Philippines then branch out. We want to grow slowly but surely, then take good jobs. We want to have at least six to 12 projects ongoing at a given time,” Sandoval said.
