MANILA, Philippines—Tony Aquino, president and chief executive officer of Ayala Land Inc. (ALI),  has won the 2013 Philippines Property Awards Real Estate Personality of the Year.

The editors of Property Report Magazine select the recipient of the Real Estate Personality of the Year award, with each member of the print and online team putting forward a candidate.

The winner was chosen based on the following criteria:

• His/her company’s overall impact on the quality of the Philippines’ property market

• His/her personal influence on business development in the Philippines

• His/her ability to innovate and introduce creative approaches to real estate growth

• His/her commitment to philanthropy

A senior managing director of Ayala Corporation and member of the corporation’s management committee, Aquino has held various positions of leadership throughout his career in the Ayala group of companies.

For 10 years, as president of Manila Water Corporation, he transformed Ayala’s first utility venture into a reliable, world-class utility business that continues to benefit millions of residents in Metro Manila.

Today, he has grown the ALI business, which has expanded its presence in new growth centers around the country, while providing products that serve a broader market, including homes that are within reach of more Filipinos.

“We chose Mr Aquino as the recipient of this award based on his proven track record of leadership and a clear commitment to providing real estate services that extend beyond just buildings to improve the quality of life,” said Jules Kay, managing editor of Property Report Magazine. “Under his stewardship, Ayala Land Inc. continues to set new benchmarks for excellence in the real estate industry, and such achievements deserve recognition.”

Presentation of the award will take place at the inaugural Philippines Property Awards 2013 Gala Dinner, which will see leaders from the country’s real estate industry gather in the ballroom of Raffles & Fairmont Makati on the evening of September 30.

Being held for the first time in 2013, the Philippines Property Awards will help map the growth of the Philippines’ property market by providing a platform to promote and reward the best of the country’s real estate.
