MANILA, Philippines—Publicly listed Vivant Corp. said its affiliate had secured a power supply contract with Ayala-led water services provider Manila Water Corp.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Thursday, Vivant said it was advised by its associate, Vivant-Sta. Clara Northern Renewables Corp., that it had entered into a back-up power supply contract with Manila Water Corp.
“The contract involves the supply of about 8.6 megawatts of back-up power for Manila Water’s five pumping stations at certain months of the year,” Vivant said.
Northern Renewables is the Independent Power Producer (IPP) Administrator of the 70- MW Bakun hydroelectric power plant in Alilem, Ilocos Sur.
Vivant is focused on energy generation and distribution services.
The company’s flag-bearer, Visayan Electric Co. Inc. or Veco, operates the country’s second largest electric utility that services the greater part of Metro Cebu and five other municipalities in Cebu Province.
Through subsidiaries and affiliates, Vivant’s energy portfolio has grown to include holdings within and outside Cebu Province.
