Sales of Ford vehicles surge 79%

Ford Group Philippines posted a 79-percent surge in vehicle sales in the first eight months to 8,360 units, making it the fastest growing automotive brand in the country this year.

In August alone, the company’s vehicle sales rose by 44 percent to 826 units, driven largely by the continued strength in demand for the “class-defining, all-new” Ford Ranger.

“Despite the impact of the heavy monsoon season in August, we continued to see strong interest in our full lineup of segment-leading Ford vehicles at showrooms across the country, helping further drive our performance this year,” said Kay Hart, managing director of Ford Philippines.

The Ranger continued to be Ford’s best-selling nameplate in the Philippines, chalking up sales of 323 units in August alone, and a total of 2,774 units in the first eight months.

“The unmatched versatility and capability of this extraordinary truck are helping drive its wide appeal among our expanding base of customers in the Philippines,” Hart said.

Meanwhile, sales of the family SUV Ford Everest reached 167 units in August, followed by the Explorer at 99 units.

Then last month, Ford launched the new Fiesta featuring the global 1.5L Ti-VCT engine. The new Ford Fiesta comes in eight variants, including both 5-door hatchback and 4-door sedan models.

“We are absolutely confident the new Fiesta will remain one of the clear leaders of the small car segment by delivering an unmatched combination of fuel efficiency, safety and smart technologies—helping further drive its popularity in the Philippines and we look forward to its first full month of sales in September,” Hart said.

Meanwhile, Ford said it would build on its commitment to further enhance its customer experience, which includes customer convenience from an even wider network of dealers.

Since October, Ford has established dealerships in Cainta, Bohol, Butuan, Ilocos Norte, Isabela, Makati, Manila Bay, Naga and Tarlac, bringing its current number of authorized dealerships to 32.

Over the next few months, Ford plans to establish dealerships in Baguio and Zamboanga, expanding its dealership network to 35 by the end of the year.
