Power firm picks contractor for Palawan projects

MANILA, Philippines–Calamanian Islands Power Corporation (CIPC), a joint venture of Vivant Corporation’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Vivant Energy Corporation (VEC) and  Gigawatt Power Inc. (GPI), has picked Sta. Clara International Corporation (SCIC) as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for its Busuanga and Coron Power Plant projects after a thorough and competitive selection process.

SCIC shall be responsible for the construction of the two power stations: a 750-kilowatt diesel-fired Busuanga power plant and an 8-megawatt bunker-fired Coron power plant.

The two power plants will serve CIPC’s obligations under a 15-year power supply agreement with Busuanga Island Electric Cooperative (BISELCO). CIPC shall supply all of its energy output and provide ancillary services to the said electric cooperative.

The Busuanga and Coron power plants are expected to be commercially operational by 2014. INQUIRER.net
