Philippine business groups have signed an agreement with the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) as the country seeks to establish long-term strategic partnerships in the growing Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) industry in the region.
The signing of two separate memoranda of understanding by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands (CCPI) with the TCEB Wednesday is seen to strengthen bilateral trade between the Philippines and Thailand.
TCEB president Nopparat Maythaveekulchai said in a briefing that the MOU would pave the way for the exchange of information, support and business trade missions between the two countries.
With the MOU, the TCEB is also planning to tap new markets within the Philippines like Cebu and Clark by organizing a trade mission.
A special incentive program can also be tapped by potential Philippine-based trade promoters wanting to visit exhibitions in Thailand. A financial subsidy of $100 will be given to each visitor.
“The two agreements will play a central role in driving growth. This is the start of a long-term strategic partnership among our organizations that will be of immense benefit to our respective MICE industries and to the broader economic partnership between the Philippines and Thailand,” Maythaveekulchai said.
