Ford Group Philippines posted an 87-percent surge in its vehicle sales in the first half of 2013, making it the fastest growing automotive brand in the country today.
In the six month to June, Ford sold 6,261 units—higher than the 3,344 units recorded in the same period last year.
In June alone, the company’s vehicle sales more than doubled to 1,245 units from the 587 units sold in the same month last year. Ford’s robust performance in June was led by the “continued strength in demand for the class-defining all-new Ranger pickup.”
The Ranger continues to be Ford’s best-selling nameplate in the Philippines, with sales reaching a record 2,003 units from January to June. Last month, sales of the Ranger stood at 417 units, reportedly the second best single month performance.
Sales of Ford SUVs (sport utility vehicles) also contributed to the record first half performance. In the next six months, the company plans to establish dealerships in Baguio, General Santos and Zamboanga.
