Epson says it’s No. 1 for 12 straight years

GUIUAN, Samar—Epson Philippines Corp. capped fiscal year 2012 on a positive note as they gained a 34.4 percent value share of the Inkjet Printers (IJP) propelling them to No. 1 spot in the IJP category, according to the International Data Corp. (IDC).

In the Serial Impact dot Matrix (SIDM) category, Epson also increased their market share from 81.7 percent from the preceding year to 90.3 percent in 2012 further cementing their top spot in this printer category.

Value share corresponds to the total customer purchases in currency.

IDC is the standard source for market and value share information in the Philippines and in most countries.

The growth in value share is attributed to the sales of Epson L-Series printers, which were launched in September 2012.

The L-series printers provide users with the world’s lowest printing cost and high quality prints.

Stamped with EPC’s quality and warranty, the L110, L300 single function printers and L210, L350 all in one printer set a new standard being the world’s first branded ink tank system printer.

“We believe that our revolutionary Epson L-series … has paved the way in the increase of our value share leadership in this category. These figures attest that Filipino customers put a premium on the quality, reliability and overall value for money that Epson offers,” explains Donna V. Ferro, Head of Epson’s Marcom & Customer Support.

Soon after, EPC launched the M-Series printers. This series is equipped with a genuine ink tank system printer as a superior alternative to entry-level monochrome laser printer.

Both the M100 (single function printer) and M200 (all-in-one printer) can print up to 6,000 pages per bottle.

On the other hand, EPC remains the undisputed leader in the SIDM category.

This year, EPC plans to aggressively explore the visual imagery or projector market.

According to reports, Future Source Consulting recently affirmed Epson’s status as the No. 1 projector maker in the world for an unprecedented 12th straight year.

EPC recently launched its latest 3D and interactive projectors including the world’s brightest 3D home projectors (EH-TW6100 and EH TW8100).

In addition to the growing list of projectors, EPC also introduced EB 1400wl/1410wl as the first projectors with ultra-show, integrated interactive projector for business users.

This year, EPC introduced the G6000 series, which has brightness ratings of 5200 to 7000 lumens and which are able to produce clear, bright projections with equally high color brightness attributed to the 3LCD technology.

Among its most celebrated features is the HDBaseT connectivity. This is the next-generation interface for the long-distance transmission of uncompressed high-definition video, audio and data.

HDBaseT uses familiar Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet cables and sockets, which are widely available and, in the future, expected to replace existing multimedia cables like HDMI or DVI, which is more expensive.

The G6000 series also comes with the Faroudja DCDi (directional correlation de-interlacing) Cinema chip.

This processor enhances color management while reducing 3D noise, resulting in sharp, crisp, detailed images.

The projector’s ultra-high-precision Auto Iris control system delivers a high 5,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio by monitoring the intrinsic brightness level of each scene and automatically adjusting contrast to optimal levels.

The projector also features edge blending wherein it can intelligently blend the colors of overlapped images (both top and bottom) from multiscreen projections to achieve a seamless panoramic display.

The top of the line G6000 series (EB-G6800 and EB-G6900WU) have additional curved and corner wall projection capabilities that enable them to project distortion free images on surfaces that are concave, convex, 90 degree adjacent or even spherical.

The G6000 series is composed of different models, namely: Epson EB-G6150, EB-G6050W, EB-G6250W, EB-G6550WU.

Top-of-the-line projectors are EB-G6800 and EB-G6900WU.

The projectors will be available by end of June to the Southeast Asia region.

EPC also launched the Epson manufacturing plant called the Epson Precision Philippines Inc. in Lipa, Batangas, in March.

The plant generates 4.5 million printers and a million projectors that are shipped to 24 countries across the globe. It employs over 10,000 individuals and has won several environmental awards.

The plant commits to reduce environmental burden and to contribute to the recycling of resources.

“We are excited to confirm our progress in the past years. With the growing numbers that we are enjoying, we are confident that we are on track in making the Epson brand number 1 in the Philippines and the world. For the rest of 2013 … we hope to continue offering more innovations that will please the Filipino customers, and make them want to continue a fruitful and productive relationship with us,” says EPC president and country manager Toshimitsu Tanaka.
