Solar names new execs

MANILA, Philippines—Cable network Solar Entertainment Corp. recently appointed two officers to manage its broadcasting and cable businesses.

Manuel Quiogue was named chief commercial officer while Maria Theresa Borromeo was appointed chief operating officer.

As Solar’s CCO, Meckoy will oversee the programming, marketing, and sales of Solar’s cable and free-television channels.

Borromeo also served as CEO of Group M Philippines.

Asia Society has appointed Josette Sheeran, vice chair of The World Economic Forum, as its 7th president and CEO. Sheeran will assume the office on June 10.

“Sheeran is a proven executive with a long and successful record of global leadership, and far-reaching diplomatic experience with the nations of Asia,” Asia Society board co-chairs Henrietta Fore and Ronnie Chan said in a joint statement.

At the World Economic Forum, which hosts the annual Davos and ‘Davos in China’ gathering of world leaders, Sheeran helped advance global initiatives and global, regional and industry agendas such as “Grow Africa,” which has attracted $4 billion in investment commitments to end hunger and malnutrition in Africa.
