MANILA, Philippines – Asia Business Channel, an independent production house specializing in exclusive country profiles, will be airing its second investment documentary, entitled, “The Philippines: Back to a Bright Future,” on Channel News Asia this Wednesday, May 22 at 8:30 p.m.. The program is a follow up to the success of, “The Philippines Moves Forward,” which aired in December of last year on Channel News Asia.
With a special focus on health, finance and retail, the second of a three-part series features the Philippines’ most influential business personalities, high-level government officials and country ambassadors headlined by President Benigno Aquino III, Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Health Secretary Enrique Ona, Hans Sicat, and TeresitaSy-Coson speaking on the pervading air of optimism that is leading investors to look at the country with fresh eyes. The third and final report is tentatively scheduled for airing in the third quarter of 2013, and will take the story further with a focus on transport, real estate, manufacturing and agriculture.
“The Philippines of today is experiencing a level of economic optimism that hasn’t been seen in quite some time. Sustained growth hinges on the Philippines ability to show the international community what it has to offer investors,” says Carleen Krug, ABC country manager, who, together with International Business Analyst Alexandra Gurneeled the production. “We worked closely with President Aquino and the members of his cabinet to develop a powerful and informative program, and collaborated with members of the private sector in order to present a full 360-degree view of opportunities available in the Philippines.”
High-level personalities echo the positive outlook on the country in the ABC special feature:
“We’re investing heavily in infrastructure, we’re investing in health and education. The private sector has responded, as shown by GDP figures, but more importantly, the focus is on inclusive growth.” – President Benigno Aquino III
“The Filipinos now have started to believe again, and hope again, that their country can actually become a country of their dreams.” – Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima
“I think the most significant change that has taken place in the Philippines, although it may be more obvious to some than other, is that the Filipino has found a new self-confidence.” – Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez
“It’s a country whose time has come.” – Hans Sicat, Philippine Stock Exchange
“The Philippines is ready for the world. The Philippines is going to make it worthwhile for a lot of investors that may want to consider being part of a great and growing economy in Asia.” Businessman Bernie Liu
