Splash reports jump in food sales in North America
MANILA, Philippines—Splash Corp., a listed personal care products manufacturer, said buyers in North America snapped up its Barrio Fiesta-branded condiments business although overall food sales still ended with modest gains.
In a statement, Splash said first-quarter sales of the Barrio Fiesta condiments brand grew 1 percent to P22.37 million. Overall food sales, which included Moondish Foods Corp., increased 4 percent to P29.2 million.
Splash said sales of condiments were driven by double-digit growth in exports to North America.
“Barrio Fiesta is not only well known in the Philippines but also well loved by Filipinos in the United States and Canada,” Ace Vincent Villa-Real, Splash general manager of international operations division, said in the statement.
The company, however, did not provide specific sales figures.
“By expanding our product portfolio and distribution networks in North America, more and more [Filipinos abroad] are having a little taste of home,” Villa-Real said.
