Start your engines and get ready to party in Singapore! Singapore GP Ltd Pte, race promoters of the world’s only Formula One night race, has announced that a pair of lucky Formula One fans will have the chance to win round trip airfares, including rooms for three nights along with race tickets to the 2011 Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix (leaving Manila on September 23 and returning on September 26).
Since the inaugural race in 2008 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, Singapore has successfully hosted the only night race in Grand Prix history and Asia’s only street race on the Formula One calendar that is held on public roads.
In a recent announcement, ticket sales for the race continue to pick up speed with less than two months to the most anticipated sporting event in Singapore. Over 80 percent of this year’s targeted sales have already been achieved. Year on year, Singapore GP saw a much earlier take up of ticket sales with the successful introduction of the Group Booking Special valid for the three largest grandstands (Bay, Padang and Pit).
“We’ve had particularly strong support from Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and the United Kingdom, where ticket sales increased by approximately 50 percent on average when compared to last year,” said Michael Roche, executive director of Singapore GP Pte Ltd.
$5M entertainment
With the championship battle hotter than ever after Silverstone and Nürburgring coupled with extensive S$5 million entertainment line-up, all eyes will be on the Marina Bay Street Circuit this September.
The Turn 2, Pit Straight, Esplanade Waterfront as well as the Premier Walkabout tickets are selling fast, with very limited availability remaining for the Stamford Grandstand.
To date, a total of 70,000 general grandstand and walkabout tickets have been released per day.
With the price of one race ticket, fans can both enjoy the race and a line-up of multimillion-dollar entertainment with ticket prices that start as low as S$38 for a Zone 4 Friday Walkabout pass while a three-day Premier Walkabout ticket, averaging at S$149 per day, offers access to all zones and over 103 stage and roving performances within the race circuit park.
A plethora of international celebrities is part of this year’s race events, starting with two-time Grammy winning rock band Linkin Park for a one-night-only performance featuring hits from their “A Thousand Suns” album at the Padang main stage on race day.
Other headliners include Shaggy of the “Mr. Boombastic” fame and Rick Astley. Both performances will be at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre (Zone 4 – Saturday) and Village Stage (Zone 1 – Sunday).
Local sensation Charice will be there to perform at the Padang Stage in Zone 4 on Friday while she will be in the Village Stage on Zone 1 on Saturday.
