CEB to start Cebu-Taipei flights

Gokongwei-led Cebu Pacific will start direct flights between Cebu and Taipei, Taiwan in July to make international air travel more accessible to Filipinos in more areas of the country.

In a statement, Cebu Pacific said it would start Cebu-Taipei operations on July 5, strengthening its operations out of its main hub in Visayas.

Taipei will be Cebu Pacific’s seventh international destination from Cebu.

“Cebu Pacific believes this new route will open up tourism and trade opportunities between the Philippines and Taiwan, and provide tourists with the lowest fare alternative on the most extensive network in the Philippines,” company vice president for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog said.

“Taiwan is one of Asia’s most unique destinations, with top attractions including the Sun Moon Lake, the Alishan National Scenic Area, and the National Palace Museum,” she said.

Cebu Pacific will fly to Taipei from Cebu twice every Monday and Friday.

To introduce its newest route, Cebu Pacific said it would hold a new seat sale, selling tickets to Taipei for as low as P699. The sale will last from April 4 to 5, or until seats last.

This is valid for travel from July 5 to September 30, 2013. After the seat sale, lowest year-round fares from Cebu to Taipei start at P2,399.

Apart from Taipei, Cebu Pacific flies direct from Cebu to Hong Kong, Singapore, Pusan, Incheon, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and 22 domestic destinations.

Starting April 15, Cebu Pacific said it would start direct flights from Cebu to Camiguin. In June, the airline will also add flights to Masbate.

Cebu Pacific currently operates 10 Airbus A319, 25 Airbus A320 and eight ATR-72 500 aircraft. Between 2013 and 2021, Cebu Pacific will take delivery of 17 more Airbus A320 and 30 Airbus A321neo aircraft. The company is slated to begin long-haul services in the third quarter of 2013. Paolo G.
