Shopping, partying, racing, Guns N’ Roses at Malaysia F1 Grand Prix

Celebrating its 15th edition this year, the 2013 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix will be a not-to-be-missed event for motor racing fans as it offers a massive package of world-class racing, shopping, partying, entertainment and a date with the legendary band Guns N’ Roses at Sepang International Circuit (SIC).

Slotted as the after-race concert on March 24, the concert featuring Guns N’ Roses will be opened free for all Grandstand ticket holders. Those with Hillstand tickets, however, need to pay a little more to catch the legendary rock performance, which will be staged at SIC’s Helipad Area after the race.

“The after-race concert, however, would just be only one of many attractions at this year’s event, which we aim to make as the best ever in Malaysia’s F1 history. The 2013 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix will be a massive celebration in the city with its festivities starting as early as a month before the event.

“And, to enjoy all these festivities to the fullest, we have introduced this year a special One Ticket Unlimited (1TU) package, which will provide fans with a host of privileges for the fans,” says SIC chief executive officer Razlan Razali.

Host of privileges

Apart from being a passport for additional discounts for a month-long 1Malaysian GP Sale 2013, 1TU would also provide the ticket holders with a host of privileges including premium packages for transportation, F&B vouchers and discounts for exclusive 15th year anniversary in Formula 1 merchandise.

The package would be firmly supported by South East Asia’s leading luxury goods retailer, Valiram Group, which would be providing special offers at its chain of outlets and prestigious brands including Tumi, Vertu, Canali, Godiva Chocolate, Shanghai Tang, La Martina and Swiss Watch Gallery.

Holders of 1TU passes would also enjoy discounts at a host of 5- and 4-star hotels like Putrajaya Marriot Hotel & Spa, Grand Dorsett Subang, G Tower Hotel, Ancasa Allsuites Resort & Spa, Best Western Premier Dua Sentral and the Ambassador Row Serviced Suites by Lanson Place.

“Fans can also get discounts at KL Bird Park, Asian Water Sports Village, Red Box, Cathay Cineplex, Aquaria KLCC, The Comedy Club KL and many more outlets,” said Razlan, who also predicts an equally exciting affair on the track with the F1 drivers and teams all determined to get an early hold on the championship battle.

First organized in 1999, Malaysia would host Round 2 of this season’s 20-leg Formula 1 World Championship at Sepang International Circuit from March 22 to 24. The new season would open with the Australian Grand Prix on the preceding weekend at Albert Park in Melbourne.

22 drivers, 11 teams

Twenty-two drivers and 11  teams would be competing this season, including Germany’s Sebastian Vettel, who is gunning for his fourth world drivers’ crown, and the Red Bull Racing Team, which is defending its Constructors’ title this year.

Recording an attendance of 120,000 for three days last year, Razlan said that SIC hoped to woo in a bigger audience this year.
