MANILA, Philippines--Local game development firms seek to grab a chunk of the $30-billion global game development pie by making the world more aware of what Filipino talents can do.

To help spread awareness about homegrown game development talents, local game developers are joining the Game Developers Conference from March 9-13 in San Francisco.

?Game development is really a big business, and joining the fair in the US will help us in expanding our business and showing what we Filipinos can share in the game development industry,? Anino Games president and chief executive Niel Dagondon said Friday in a statement.

?The United States is a good market to showcase our talents and creativity in game development ... because many (buyers) will definitely be there,? he added.

Anino Games, one of the participants to the conference, is the country?s largest game development studio.

It has so far developed and published more than 20 games for leading consoles and gaming platforms.

The company?s titles include Shutter Island, Mystery of Cleopatra, Dream Day Wedding: Married in Manhattan, Turbo Subs, Littlest Petshoppe and Jumbo Classic.

Its games can be played on multiple platforms, including personal computers, Nintendo DS and Dsi, Wii, and the mobile phone. Games for the iPhone and the popular social networking site Facebook have likewise been developed.

?Most of our projects are outsourced from foreign clients. We are lucky because they have recognized that we can offer more than just the low labor costs. We have competitive game developers and artists and we can deliver what they need,? Dagondon said.

According to global advisory firm Tholons, game development outsourcing revenues could reach $30 billion this year.

Citing various industry reports, the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions said the country?s total share in the global game development pie could hit more than $7 million at year?s end, representing a 30-percent growth over last year.
