MANILA, Philippines--Riding the expansion bandwagon, , business process outsourcing firm StarTek Inc. is adding another 2,100 seats to its operations, via a new site at the Ortigas Center.

StarTek?s new site is housed at the Eton Cyberpod building on Ortigas Avenue. It has a capacity of 2,100 seats, almost twice as big as the company?s 1,100-seat Makati facility.

The company said its first site should already reach full capacity within the first half, prompting its expansion into another location.

Recruitment for the new 15,000-square-meter site will take place in the next few months.

?The addition of a second location in the Philippines continues our global expansion plans,? StarTek president and chief executive Larry Jones said in a statement.

In an earlier interview, he said the investment for StarTek?s second site should hit $8 million.

StarTek?s Makati location provides mostly voice services, particularly basic customer care and technical support, and some order management.

The new site, Jones said, would offer the same services.

StarTek has about 9,000 seats spread over 20 sites in the United States, Canada, Costa Rica and the Philippines, with agents providing high-value voice and non-voice services to its clients.

These services include customer care, sales support, complex order processing, accounts receivable management, technical support and other industry-specific functions.

Data from the Business Processing Association of the Philippines showed the BPO sector last year posted $7.2 billion in revenue.

The contact center sector alone contributed $5 billion to the total.
