ENERGY Secretary Angelo T. Reyes will invite foreign companies to invest in key Philippine projects that will mitigate climate change as he participates in the ongoing Copenhagen summit.

Reyes, who is giving his own remarks as to how the Philippine government tries to address global warming, said he also targets to ?learn from the international dialogue on experiences learned in addressing climate change.?

In particular, the energy chief wanted to gain more insights on the ?identification and implementation of nationally appropriate programs and activities and in accessing global financing mechanisms such as clean technology fund and clean development mechanism.?

Another reason for Reyes? participation in the Copenhagen climate change summit is to ?make multilateral development banks to allocate a higher share of their clean investment funds to the country?s programs geared toward a low carbon future.?

?[We want] banks and investors to see the Philippines as a preferred area for investment in low-carbon future and more specifically for renewable energy,? Reyes added.
