MANILA, Philippines -- Exports grew 4.3 percent in July from a year ago, against a revised 8.8 percent annual increase in June, the National Statistics Office said Wednesday.
Shipments of electronics products, the country's main export, rose 2.6 percent year-on-year in July after a 6.4 percent annual climb in June.
Exports for the first seven months of the year rose 4.1 percent. The government has set a goal of 5.0-percent growth in total merchandise exports this year, slower than 2007's 6.0-percent increase.
Besides electronics, which are largely assembled from imported parts, other key Philippine exports include garments and accessories, vehicle parts, coconut oil, tropical fruit and wood furniture.
