MANILA, Philippines -- The government revised annual gross domestic product growth in the first quarter sharply down to 4.7 percent from a previously reported 5.2 percent, officials said Thursday.

Earlier, the government said the economy had grown just 4.6 percent in the second quarter from a year ago.
