OFWs boost Robinsons Land housing sales

MANILA, Philippines—Sales to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) or their beneficiaries accounted for “about 41 percent” of the revenue of Robinsons Land Corp.’s housing and land development division as of mid-2007, prompting it to expand its offering for this dollar-rich market segment, the company said Thursday.

The real estate arm of the Gokongwei group announced plans to expand its housing project in Antipolo City, in Metro Manila, to meet the growing demand from OFW clients.

“The expansion is in response to the need of many people to invest on something valuable like a piece of prime property,” it said in a statement. “Mid-income and startup families and overseas Filipino workers who want to put their hard-earned money into a worthwhile investment are expected to be interested in the new project.”

Robinsons Land said it would boost its investment in its San Jose Estates development through a new project called St. Bernice Estates.

Occupying a gross land area of 3.5 hectares, the new development will rise along the Antipolo-Teresa Highway in the San Jose area of Antipolo City, adjacent to San Jose Estates.

Robinsons Land said the new development would give clients the option of buying lots only or properties with company-built houses or townhouses.

The mid-cost residential subdivision will offer lots, with an option for housing and two-story townhouses with a floor area of 48 square meters. Daxim L. Lucas; edited by INQUIRER.net
