Philippine stocks closed higher on thin trading yesterday, the last session before the Holy Week break.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index was up 0.37 percent, or 28.24 points, to 7,629.64 while the broader all-shares index was up 0.44 percent, or 19.77 points, to 4,552.69.

Sub-sectors closed mixed, with gaining indices led by industrial, up 0.94 percent, followed by property, up 0.7 percent, and holding firms, up 0.36 percent.

FEATURED STORIES

Losers were led by mining and oil, down 0.55 percent, as well as financials and services, with a 0.17 percent and 0.01 percent drop,
respectively.

A total of 755.6 million shares valued at P6.19 billion changed hands.

A total of 113 firms gained, 63 closed lower, while 60 were unchanged.

SM Investments Corp. led the most actively traded players for the session, declining 0.55 percent to P719 per share.

It was followed by BDO Unibank Inc., up 0.41 percent to P121, Ayala Land Inc., down 1.13 percent to P35 and PLDT Inc., up 0.56 percent to P1,780.
