Volvo goes all out for active lifestyle

MANILA, Philippines?Who says Volvo cars are too lovely to be driven on less beautiful, rugged roads? And who says their owners lead hectic lives and leave exercise and pursuit of adventurous endeavors at the bottom of a long list of ?things to do??

?Every Volvo vehicle exudes sporty ruggedness that could fit one?s active lifestyle. Those who are looking for a high-spirited, premium vehicle would find any Volvo model a perfect choice,? said Volvo Philippines AVP for marketing services Loi Concepcion-de Guzman.

To prove her point, Volvo Philippines in agreeing to become one of the sponsors of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila?s ?Moonlit Run??a fun run event that is held just after 6 in the evening?invited a number of motoring media friends as well as several Volvo owners to join in this 3-, 5- or 10-kilometer run a week ago.

Perfect

The event was much appreciated considering daytime running these days is quite taxing physically because of warm and humid weather as well as dangerous UV rays.

And with safety a cornerstone of Volvo?s philosophy, each of the participants was issued a Volvo reflective tag while race marshals wore vests equipped with blinking lights as well as reflectors.

Even the route starting from the hotel façade all the way to the turning point near IMAX 3D Cinema in SM?s Mall of Asia was isolated to traffic to ensure no wayward vehicle would endanger runners.

?This is the first time Volvo supported an event like this and we are very excited as this helps the brand to be associated with excitement and adventure,? De Guzman said.

The only surprise that night was the sudden heavy downpour that battered the Manila Bay area just over 30 minutes after the start of the run.

The drenched runners never complained and most of them even joined the party that Volvo helped arrange at Sofitel?s The Harbour Garden tent. Nothing beats a warm shower after a hectic workout.
