MANILA?(UPDATE) Philippine share prices closed 0.50 percent lower Monday due to a lack of market-moving news, dealers said.
The composite index shed 15.36 points to close at 3,046.63, while the all-shares index shed 0.45 percent, or 8.63 points, to 1,896.08.
A total of 6.39 million shares worth P11.70 billion ($25.35 million) were traded.
Decliners led advancers 57 to 42, while 66 issues closed unchanged.
The peso traded at P46.15 to the US dollar.
"The market is lacking fresh leads and so there's follow-through selling," Lawrence de Leon of Accord Capital Equities told Dow Jones Newswires, citing recent profit-taking.
Leading the day's losers were Ayala Land Inc, which shed 2.1 percent to close at P11.75 and Globe Telecom, which was off 1.1 percent at P920.
