More than 36 organizations to join WCYF 2009

Launching: One Life, One Earth

March 27 will be the launching for the 1st World Creative Youth Forum (WCYF) 2009. WCYF is the first ever youth-led, action-focused international youth conference that aims to mainstream Sustainable Development more than the usual environment connection. More than 36 organizations from 4 countries are participating on this event while the event on May will be participated by more than 50 countries from around the world.

Brotherhood of Destiny (BROOD) who is celebrating its 7th year anniversary on March 25, 2009 is the lead organization for the event together with Rotary Club of AMA Computer University, Rotaract Club of Tiyende Pamodzi in Zambia, Africa,United Nations Youth Assosiation ? Zamboanga Peninsula Chapter and Plant A Tree Today (PATT) Foundation.

The March 27 launching will be highlighted in the Philippines with the Run for One Life, One Earth which will start at the People Power Monument at 6:00 AM after the Ecumenical Mass at 5:00 AM. The run will end at the Quezon Memorial Circle, traversing 7 kilometers of the city?s main road and will The run will culminate in a tree planting of more than 100 trees at 9:00 AM in partnership with Rotaract Club of AMACU and Sen. Loren Legarda?s Luntiang Pilipinas. A Press Conference will be held afterwards at the Quezon City Hall hosted by Mayor Sonny Belmonte, among the guests are Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista, Congressman Ed Zialcita, Craig Burrows of the Asian Students Christian Foundation and other key WCYF initiators headed by David D?Angelo, Co-Chairperson of WCYF Executive Committee.

In connection with the launching activity of WCYF on March 27, Region 9 will also be having a mangrove planting at Barangay Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City at 9:00 in the morning on the same date, planting around 300 propagules. The activity will be a joint project of I-You-Da: I?m Created to Paint Smiles, Junior Jambangan Jaycess and United Nation Youth Association of the Philippines-Zambo Peninsula Chapter.

In Zambia, Africa, Rotaract Club of Tiyende Pamodzi will hold a Joint Tree planting project in-conjunction with their three Interact clubs namely: Interact Clubs of Libala Highschool, kabulonga Boys Highschool and Kabulonga Girls High schools respectively. The Tree planting will take place on Saturday 28th March 2009 at three sites that host the Interactors namely at Libala High, kabulonga Boys High and Kabulonga Girls High schools respectively.

Organizations participating include Affiliated Network for Social Accountability in East and the Pacific (ANSA-EAP), AKBAYAN Youth, Boy Scout of the Philippines, Brahma Kumaris, World Spiritual University, Brotherhood of Destiny (BROOD), Inc., Concerned Citizens Against Pollution (COCAP), Environment Trainor?s Network of Laguna, First Time Voters Network, Generation Peace Network, Green Convergence, I-You-Da: I?m Created to Paint Smile, Zamboanga, Junior Jambangan Jaycees, Zamboanga, Kalikasan: People?s Network for the Environment, Luntiang Pilipinas, Office of Senator Loren Legarda, National Movement for Free Election (NAMFREL), Office of Hon. Eduardo ?Ed? Zialcita, 1st District Representative of Parañaque City,Office of Hon. Nanette Castillo-Daza, 4th District Representative of Quezon City, Office of the Mayor Feliciano Belmonte, Quezon City, Office of the Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista, Quezon City, Philippine National Police Quezon City Department, PITAK, Red Cross Quezon City Chapter, Rotaract and Intaract Clubs of Makati Legaspi, SALIKA, Sibuyan Against Mining, Team RP, Teatro Sambisig, Inc. (TSI), United Nations Youth Association of the Philippines, Zamboaga Peninsula Chapter, World Without Wars and Without Violence, YAJU Organization of Bulacan, Young Leaders Alliance of Rizal (YLAR), and Youth for Sustainable Development Assembly (YSDA-Pilipinas).
