Century Properties, PLDT ink partnership deal

By

Century Properties Group Inc. has inked a strategic partnership with telecom giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. to provide bundled digital connectivity and telecom services to the property developer’s high-rise residential developments.

PLDT executive vice president Eric Alberto said this partnership would be a first in high-rise property development in the Philippines.

“Century Properties’ projects are geared toward providing premium lifestyle experiences to its luxury, middle-income and affordable market segments, and these will require the best facilities for communication and connectivity,” Alberto said. “We’re more than happy to be Century Properties’ partner in providing top-class amenities to their residents.”

The deal allows the creation of bundled services under “Ultra Connectivity by Century Properties, Powered by PLDT, Cignal Digital TV, Smart Communications and Sun Cellular.”

This package includes a high-speed Internet connection inside each residential unit; Wi-Fi connection in PLDT’s more than 3,500 hotspots; digital TV service that includes high-definition channels; a landline telephone with a fully interactive Android tablet; and optional mobile phone connectivity.

The first CPG residential building to carry these services is the Gramercy Residences at Century City, which is scheduled for completion in December 2012.

CPG chief operating officer John Victor Antonio said the collaboration with the PLDT group was a natural step for both companies. “Century wants to bring in first-world technologies to its developments and give its discerning market a worry-free move in experience with first-of-its-kind connectivity services. Hence, the logical step would be to form an alliance with the country’s biggest telecom company,” he said.

“The PLDT group offers everything in telecommunications and digital solutions and that’s what we want to provide our residents. When they move in, they have units that are not only fully fitted and furnished, but are also installed with advanced landline service, Internet, Wi-Fi and digital TV connections that are ready for their use,” Antonio said. “Our properties will also have state-of-the-art security systems to ensure the safety of our residents and minimize risks.”

Aside from Gramercy, the PLDT-Cignal-Smart bundled services will also be rolled out in the other high-rise condominium buildings at Century City, including the Knightsbridge Residences, the Versace Home-interior designed Milano Residences, Trump Tower at Century City, the world-class outpatient medical tower Centuria Medical Makati and the Century City Mall.

If this deal also means “exclusive” ie other telcos can not provide their services in the buildings/development then this is:

    1) anti-competition and most importantly
    2) anti-consumer
